Easy baked macaroni with béchamel sauce

I thought I would change things up a bit ! Since baked macaroni and cheese is so common, I decided to add a béchamel sauce on top it’s almost like lasagne ☺ this is a tomato meat base sauce, with a hit of cream and lots of cheese …. YUMMY ! these flavors mix amazingly well. Pasta dishes is one of my specialties and I enjoy experimenting with different flavors. So I thought I would share this simple recipe , now if you just want the macaroni with cheese on top- you can do that as well. This dish is great for parties, or family get togethers

Ingredients :

1 16-oz box Elbow Macaroni, cooked per box instruction

bolognese sauce :

1 1/2 pound Ground Beef
1 1/2 cup equivalent bell peppers, cubed
1 small can Tomato Paste
1 piece dried bay leaf
1 1/2 cup water
1 knor chicken broth cube
4 cloves Garlic, minced
1 large Onion, chopped
Salt and Pepper to taste
1/3 cup fresh milk
Cooking Oil

Béchamel sauce :

2 cups full cream milk
1 cup Butter
2/3 cup All purpose Flour
1 cup Cheddar Cheese/ quick melt cheese, shredded
1/4 tsp. nutmeg

Topping :

1 cups Parmesan Cheese and cubed quick melt cheese

Now 1st you want to prepare everything before you assemble the dish all together – this is probably the only thing that could take time ! But trust me – its worth every bite ! 😍

Directions :

1st you boil the macaroni and set it aside.

How to make the bolognese sauce

To do the meat sauce: saute the garlic and onion and add the ground beef. Cook until the meat are browned.

2 Add tomato paste, hot water with the broth cube – what you want to do it to mix the chicken broth cube into the water and pour it into the pan, add salt and pepper. Bring to a boil.

3 Add the bell peppers, then simmer for 15-20 minutes. Once the sauce looks thick u add the milk.

How to make the béchamel sauce :

1- Let’s do the white sauce : Set the butter on a small deep pan and add the flour. Cook for 2-3 minutes on medium low heat.

2- Add the milk, and nutmeg and mix until thick. Add the cheese.

To assemble :
Transfer to a baking dish, Mix the meat sauce with the pasta, then add the white sauce on top
top with parmesan cheese and quick melt cheese 😉

Once it’s all put together is should look like this before it goes into the oven ☺

then Bake on a 350 ° F pre-heated oven for 25 – 30 minutes. Serve hot.
